Seward
is a small town of about 6,700, located in Seward County in southeastern Nebraska. It is 25 miles west of Lincoln and 82 miles southwest of Omaha. Interstate 80 is five miles south of Seward. The town boasts the title of "America's Official 4th of July Small Town U.S.A." This refreshing small town is also home to a busy downtown and a summertime Farmers Market held twice weekly from June through October. Nearly 70 vendors set up on the town square to sell homegrown produce, homemade pies, pastries, breads, jellies and other goodies. Eleven public parks in Seward offer 125 acres with baseball and soccer fields, softball diamonds, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, picnicking and playground equipment. Centennial Park in Seward is adjacent to the Seward County Fairgrounds, which includes the Seward County Ag Pavilion, grandstand and arena, a newly built 4-H Center and new Livestock Center. Other attractions in or near Seward include the Langworthy Art Gallery, the Historic Courthouse and Courthouse Square, the Seward County Historical Museum, and Pawnee Earth Lodge, located off the Interstate at Goehner.

Nebraska's southeast corner has a continental four-season climate with highly variable temperatures from season to season and year to year. However, temperatures do not usually vary widely from place to place in Nebraska. The southeast region tends to be slightly warmer in both the summer and winter than other areas of the state. Thunderstorms, hail, droughts, blizzards, tornadoes and windstorms are all possible severe types of weather in Nebraska. Generally, January is the coldest month and July is the warmest month. The driest month in southeast Nebraska is usually February with an average 0.66 inches of precipitation, and 4.23 inches in May, making it the wettest month. Spring and fall are mild to moderate and often the most pleasant time of year.
